- ➤ Lawmakers are moving forward with a bill that would let public school teachers use students' legal names instead of their preferred names and pronouns. The bill passed the House Education Administration Subcommittee with five yes votes and one no—if enacted it would allow civil action against employees who use preferred names without parental consent. - ➤ Helping Mamas in Knoxville fills decorative canvas bags with free period products to help girls who might miss school when they cannot afford them. Rep. Elaine Davis introduced HB39 to supply these products in high school bathrooms—if passed the plan will let the group focus on younger students. WVLT 8
- ➤ Knoxville postal workers rallied yesterday at the downtown post office and Weisgarber Road location to oppose plans to shift control of the post office to the Commerce Department — they warned that privatizing the service could lead to higher postage prices, slower deliveries, and cuts to workers' benefits. A local representative’s statement emphasized that improving mail service efficiency is essential for meeting the needs of Tennesseans. 10 News
