  • Jesse James, a Hartford native, reflected on six months since Hurricane Helene swept through East Tennessee and said she helped rebuild her community—volunteering at her local cafe, organizing food drives and clothing donations—and will continue listening for needs even when neighbors do not ask for help.  10 News
  • Knoxville Dragway held its 4th annual ‘Race against the PoPo’ where local drivers raced volunteer police officers to raise funds for Detective Andrew Woods—who is battling cancer—and build closer ties with the community.  WVLT 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jonas Brothers will perform in Knoxville at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center on Nov.4 as part of their Jonas20: Living the Dream tour—marking their 20-year journey from small mall shows to headlining stadiums. The artist presale will begin on March 27 at 10 a.m. and general ticket sales will open on March 28 at 10 a.m.  WVLT 8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Teacher Stormie Adkins from Claxton Elementary won runner-up and viewer’s choice in ORAU’s 2025 Extreme Classroom Makeover Competition, earning $7,500 for new technology to help students—especially those who do not speak English—connect better in class.  WVLT 8

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Rural Metro said shortly after 5 p.m. (local time) that crews fought a 5-acre wildfire in the Halls community of Knox County, and officials confirmed the blaze was contained (fire was brought under control).  WVLT 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tennessee has added Saturday appointments at 14 Driver Services Centers to help residents get their REAL IDs before the May 7 deadline needed for boarding domestic flights and accessing federal locations. Some East Tennessee centers (five in total) offer these times, and drivers must show a valid Tennessee license (or ID) when they apply.  Knoxville News Sentinel
