- ➤ Knoxville native Kenny Chesney was announced for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025, honoring his long career in music. The induction ceremony will take place later this year at the museum in Nashville. 6 News
- ➤ On April 5, the annual Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk will transform Downtown Knoxville into an outdoor art gallery featuring over 300 artists, food trucks, a beer garden, and free children’s activities in Market Square—attendees can also enjoy competitions in 12 categories with cash prizes, ribbons and an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. 6 News

- ➤ Ashley Mabry, a child abuse survivor, reconnected with her kindergarten teacher Richard Goforth—who saved her life more than 20 years ago at John Hay Elementary by alerting child services and helping her escape an abusive home. - ➤ On March 27, East Tennessee will mark six months since Hurricane Helene made landfall, causing heavy flooding, damage to homes and businesses, and loss of life—communities continue rebuilding with renewed support for local tourism and recovery efforts. WVLT 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rockwood Airport will undergo a $5 million modernization project with $4 million provided by the state and $1 million from the city. Sen. Ken Yager requested the funds from Gov. Bill Lee—legislative approval is expected in mid-to-late April. 10 News
- ➤ FEMA delivered 43 temporary housing units on Monday to residents affected by Hurricane Helene in East Tennessee, with 21 units for private use and 22 for commercial use—federal funds totaling over $30 million were also allocated to local counties for recovery nearly six months after the storm. The measures aim to support ongoing rebuilding efforts in the region. WVLT 8
