ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Loudon County crews extinguished a brush fire that threatened structures at the 1800 block of White Wing Road — the sheriff’s office said road closures were implemented as a precaution.  WVLT 8

CRIME NEWS

  • Knoxville Police Department was searching for 14-year-old Seth Horney—who was last seen at his home on Chukar Road wearing a grey sweater, black pants and white shoes and who had a burn mark on his right arm.  6 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • On March 8, the Knoxville Suffrage Coalition decorated the Women’s Suffrage Memorial with sashes worn by National Women’s Party members to honor early suffragists. The group—founded 25 years ago and gathering around 900 artifacts for a planned museum—will hold an event on Aug. 18 with tickets priced at $105, matching each year since women gained the right to vote.  WVLT 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti said Tennessee consumers have the right to delete their genetic data from 23andMe after the company filed for bankruptcy and plans to sell assets that include sensitive personal data—his office provided step-by-step instructions on its website.  6 News
  • Maryville Police Department announced it welcomed K9 Java, a dog about one and a half years old trained in detecting electronic storage devices by Jordan Detection K9's in Indianapolis — he will work with Lieutenant Rod Fernandez and serve as comfort support for victims and community members with funding from OUR Rescue. This new unit will help locate hidden devices and support community safety efforts.  6 News
