- ➤ Bridge the Gap Ministries held its 3rd annual banquet Saturday evening at the Sevierville Civic Center to raise thousands of dollars for its free addiction recovery program+ The event featured comedy by LeeLee Williams, a ventriloquist act by Kyle Scribner, and musical worship by Josh Cottrell. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A motorcycle crash in Cocke County on Saturday afternoon killed Hubert Roberts and his passenger Norma Roberts when his Harley Davidson trike crossed the center line and hit another motorcycle at around 3:15 p.m. (two others sustained serious injuries). WVLT 8
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A sheriff said a student at EK Baker School may have brought a substance thought to be drugs or powdered laxatives to school after reports that some students drank a strange liquid in class—School Resource Deputy Charles Shelton provided the details. WVLT 8
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Webb School's 30-member robotics team built their robot from scratch in about two months and competed in F.I.R.S.T.'s regional event in Sevierville this past weekend to test their design for collecting and moving objects. Although they did not reach the playoff round, the team has qualified for the FIRST Championship in Houston in about two weeks and will continue improving their technical and teamwork skills. 10 News
- ➤ Knoxville high schoolers are competing in a regional robotics tournament as they prepare for the championship. Webb School’s 30-member team built their robot from scratch in about two months—now the team is getting ready for the final round. 10 News

- ➤ Ja'Kobi Gillespie, an East Tennessee native from Greeneville High School who earned 2022 Tennessee 3A Mr. Basketball and helped his team win a state championship—has transferred from Maryland to join the Tennessee Volunteers through the transfer portal. Coach Brad Woolsey said Gillespie is a hardworking player whose lifelong passion for UT is expected to spur strong hometown support—local fans are set to embrace his play as he helps lead the team.
