- ➤ More than 130 East Tennessee veterans will fly to Washington, D.C. today on HonorAir Knoxville's 36th flight, accompanied by WVLT's Casey Wheeless. They will return to Knoxville at McGhee Tyson Airport shortly before 8 p.m.—local officials invite the public to welcome them in Economy Lot C along Tyson Boulevard. WVLT 8

- ➤ At the new Covenant Health Park, seven statues were unveiled Tuesday to honor the Knoxville Giants of the Southern Negro League—a team that helped shape local baseball history. - ➤ Students from across Tennessee voiced support for the Menstrual Hygiene Product Accessibility Act on Tuesday, a bill that would make pads and tampons freely available in all school bathrooms. - ➤ Remote Area Medical is hosting a free healthcare clinic at the Oak Ridge Recreation Center at 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike on May 3rd and May 4th. Dental, vision and general medical services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis with no insurance or ID needed, and parking opens at midnight on May 2nd—patients must choose between dental and vision services due to limited time. 10 News

- ➤ GBX Group acquired the Old City Performing Arts Center building at 111 State St. at the end of 2024 to keep its historic look amid new developments like Covenant Health Park — the building, built in the late 19th century and once used as an ice factory and supply warehouse, may soon serve as a theater, restaurant or creative space.
