  • Amanda Palletz said the Girl Scouts will end cookie sales in May—despite many thinking they have enough—marking the close of cookie sales at the Dogwood Arts Festival sale.  WVLT 8

  • UScellular announced it will lay off about 4,100 employees nationwide due to its merger with T-Mobile — layoffs will begin June 2 at nine East Tennessee locations including Knoxville, and most affected workers are slated to receive similar pay and benefits from T-Mobile.  WVLT 8

  • Knoxville police are searching for 14-year-old Seth Horney who went missing a short time ago from the 5600 block of Merchants Center Boulevard—people with information should call 911.  6 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A study by WalletHub compared median rents to incomes in 182 U.S. cities and found that Memphis ranked 153 and Knoxville 152, showing that these Tennessee cities are among the least affordable for renters—Knoxville residents spend about 26.26% of their income on rent while Chattanooga residents spend 22.71%.  6 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials with the Briceville Volunteer Fire Department said a wildfire in Anderson County burned 223 acres in the Dugger Lease area and was fully contained Sunday morning—no structures were damaged though a box truck burned at an old coal mine. The crews fought the blaze for four days.  WVLT 8

  • Former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava announced on Sunday that he will join UCLA—he entered the transfer portal on Wednesday after missing practice amid NIL negotiations and thanked Knoxville fans for their support.  WVLT 8
  • Former Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava transferred to UCLA after leaving Tennessee football before Saturday’s Orange and White game—he confirmed his decision on Instagram on Sunday and thanked Knoxville for its support during his time at UT.  10 News
  • The Knoxville Smokies beat the Chattanooga Lookouts 3-0 to finish their first series at Covenant Health Park on Sunday afternoon—drawing nearly 30,000 fans while local leaders and neighbors praised the new venue for boosting downtown activity and promising more events ahead. Business owners said the park already sparked extra economic activity during its opening week.  10 News
