- ➤ Beardsley Farm in Knoxville, which produces over 65,000 pounds of food a year, cut its staff from 10 to 5 after federal cuts to AmeriCorps grants — most of the remaining workers are AmeriCorps alums. The funding cuts placed 85% of the local AmeriCorps workforce on leave in April — affecting gardeners, grocery recipients and school programs. 6 News

- ➤ A serious crash on Norris Freeway Tuesday afternoon near Mountain Road in Anderson County claimed one life and injured another, and Highway 441 remained closed as the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Anderson County Sheriff’s Office investigated—drivers were asked to seek alternate routes. 6 News

- ➤ The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people tied to drug sales in the Magnolia area Monday after detectives followed a white Chrysler Pacifica, and one suspect (Melvin Taylor) said he came from Detroit with drugs. WVLT 8
- ➤ Knoxville police closed N. Broadway at Atlantic Avenue around 11 a.m. yesterday after a man was hit and killed by a car—police said the driver remained at the scene—and it marked the second pedestrian incident in that area in two weeks following an April 12 crash. WVLT 8
