CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities are searching for Jerry Stevens, wanted in several counties for aggravated assault and theft over $10,000, and he is considered armed and dangerous—officials caution the public not to approach him. WVLT 8
- ➤ Knoxville police arrested an 18-year-old for attempted murder after a shooting (Robert Brabson was also wanted for using a firearm during a dangerous felony). 10 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Dollywood will air its new documentary The Dollywood Dream on WVLT today at 7 p.m. and again Saturday at noon. The film uses archival footage to show the park’s history from Dolly Parton’s opening day to the launch of its 40th season — set for May 3. WVLT 8
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ WildSide has opened the U.S.'s longest zipline on 900 acres in Sevier County, letting riders zip one mile at 55 mph from a 2,400-foot elevation. Tourism officials say the MegaZip — designed by Bryce Bentz — will help attract more visitors and boost the local economy. WVLT 8
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At Loudon High School, over 200 students in construction, special education, HVAC and electrical classes built a 1,500-square-foot home that shows their teamwork and skills. The completed house will be auctioned at 9 a.m. Saturday May 3rd—proceeds will benefit the school. 10 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ East Tennessee nonprofit groups face reduced resources after federal cuts to AmeriCorps funding—leaders say the loss may limit community support. Officials are working on ways to help vulnerable residents adjust to the new funding changes. WVLT 8
- ➤ The Transportation Security Administration will enforce Real ID standards in one week, so only travelers flying domestically need a Real ID while others can use their current license. State officials advise Tennesseans to visit driver services centers in outlying counties (which offer shorter wait times) to avoid long lines. WVLT 8

- ➤ An 8-year-old Farragut boy is improving after serious injuries he got from Kentucky storms and now gets physical and occupational therapy at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville—he was also visited by country star Tim McGraw as his family plans for further rehab. 10 News
