ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Tennessee National Guard rescued an injured hiker in Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Wednesday around 3 p.m.—they flew from McGhee Tyson Airport to Derick Knob Shelter and then to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville in less than 90 minutes.  WVLT 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cheese Week is underway in Knoxville and runs from April 28 until May 4—residents can enjoy various cheese-themed events during the festival.  WVLT 8
  • Yesterday, Dollywood celebrated its 40th anniversary with a live stream event at 11 a.m.—Dolly Parton and park officials reflected on the park's history. The weekend celebration runs through May 4 and features park upgrades as well as plans for a new night themed ride set to launch in 2026.  6 News
  • Dolly Parton spent Friday at Dollywood celebrating 40 seasons of the park—fans waited along the parade route for a glimpse of the country music icon.  10 News
