- ➤ Today, the eighth annual Cattywampus Parade and Block Party is held at Suttree Landing Park at 1001 Waterfront Drive with participants lining up at 2 p.m. and the parade starting at 3 p.m. Community members can follow the route along the River Walk Greenway + enjoy local music, dancing, food and activities for children until 6 p.m. 6 News
- ➤ The French Broad Veterans Memorial Park opened Friday morning in Knox county to honor veterans — the park’s dedication marked a new space for remembrance. 10 News

- ➤ Maryville pastor Josh Sullivan—kidnapped mid-sermon in South Africa and rescued days later—spent 122 hours in captivity and now shares his experience with local community members. 10 News
- ➤ A Knoxville man, Brian Jamar Underwood (44), was arrested Tuesday and faces charges including seven counts of burglary, vandalism, fraudulent use of a credit or debit card, forgery, and theft of property from a series of car burglaries in the New Center community earlier this month. 6 News

- ➤ University of Tennessee’s College of Law held its graduation ceremony on May 15 in the Student Union where graduates celebrated their achievements and civil rights advocate Rita Geier received an honorary degree. - ➤ The Tennessee Department of Education received over 33,000 applications early Thursday for Education Freedom Scholarships that offer $7,295 to help pay tuition and fees for the 2025-26 school year.
