- ➤ A Knoxville restaurant collected donations—blankets, sleeping bags, gloves, and hot food—for residents affected by the tornado that killed at least 21 people Friday evening in southern Kentucky; donations were accepted at 159 N. Peters Road until 3 p.m. Saturday. WVLT 8
- ➤ Knox News in Knoxville earned 39 awards in 2024 from the Society of Professional Journalists Golden Press Card Awards, including 21 first place honors for categories like Hurricane Helene coverage and investigative reporting (investigative reporter Tyler Whetstone won his third Horace V. - ➤ Teen girls riding an inflatable raft down Cane Creek at Fall Creek Falls State Park were rescued after the raft hit a rock and threw them from it; one girl was injured and rescue teams used a rope system+ to haul her safely over a steep embankment before EMS transported her to a hospital. - ➤ Parents reported problems with the Tennessee private school voucher program when some received confirmation emails with incorrect names or none at all after applying at noon May 15 for the 2025-26 school year. The Department of Education said a temporary email server glitch was fixed+ all personal information remains secure. WVLT 8
- ➤ Knoxville Catholic High School held its Class of 2025 graduation ceremony (May 16) at Blaine Stadium in Knoxville, where photos captured students celebrating and remarks from school officials. Knoxville News Sentinel

- ➤ Gov. Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee visited over 700 soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard's 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment (primarily from its 2nd Squadron) in Kuwait on May 16, and they thanked the troops for their service during the year-long deployment under Operation Spartan Shield.
