- ➤ McGhee Tyson Airport announced on Wednesday that Allegiant will add nonstop flights in the fall to Memphis and Key West—Memphis flights begin September 4 and Key West flights start October 3. WVLT 8

- ➤ Dollywood is offering Sevier County Days with $5 tickets for county residents and employees at Dollywood from June 9 to 15 and at Splash Country from June 2 to 8 — shoppers must show a county ID or paycheck stub. Splash Country also launches its new School’s Out! promotion from May 23 to June 8, giving any kid a $29.95 ticket with a report card, while all proceeds support local nonprofits. WVLT 8

- ➤ Knox County Schools removed 65 additional books from school library shelves on Wednesday as part of the Age-Appropriate Materials Act, which restricts materials with nudity, sexual content, or violence—adding to 48 previously removed titles for a total of 113 books. The law still allows these materials to be used in class instruction. 10 News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has stopped sending black bears to Appalachian Bear Rescue after 16 bears died from pneumonia or were euthanized in 2023 and 2024—agency staff are working with the rescue to improve pen sanitation and set up a new operating agreement. The rescue group said it is ready to accept bear cubs needing care once the changes are approved. Knoxville News Sentinel
- ➤ Crews from the National Weather Service surveyed damage from Tuesday night’s storm in East Tennessee—one team checked Cumberland County where a building was destroyed while another inspected damage in Montgomery, Roane, Anderson, Morgan and northern Bledsoe counties amid reports of downed trees and power lines. 10 News
