- ➤ Zoo Knoxville introduced six red wolf pups on Earth Day — the zoo said visitors can view the new arrivals during scheduled times. WVLT 8
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At least one person died in a single-vehicle crash on Pellissippi Parkway near the Alcoa Highway off ramp in Blount County Tuesday morning — officers and firefighters worked at the scene to reconstruct the crash — and one westbound lane reopened around 10 a.m. 6 News

- ➤ Deputy Charles 'Ray' Faircloth faces criminal charges for fatally shooting John Anthony Cox at a Harriman home on May 2 and is also charged with official misconduct—records show past colleagues raised discipline concerns during his time with Oak Ridge PD and other agencies, and his next court date is set for October. 10 News
- ➤ Knoxville police are searching for 13-year-old Brailey Carter who went missing from her Reynolds Street home on May 24 when she ran away at about 2 a.m.—she was last seen in all black at 10:30 p.m. 6 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, the City Council approved two measures to expand school zone automated enforcement as part of its Vision Zero plan to reduce speeding and traffic injuries—noise cameras will be set up first with some speed cameras expected this fall based on traffic studies. 6 News
- ➤ On Tuesday, Knoxville City Council passed a $477.3 million budget that funds police, firefighters, affordable housing, a park makeover, and initiatives to prevent homelessness. The measure keeps the property tax rate unchanged and will allow for expanded traffic camera use and a redevelopment plan for Magnolia Avenue and Chilhowee Park — a workshop on the sales tax proposal is scheduled for next month. - ➤ Knoxville Parks and Recreation is updating its master plan for the first time in 15 years and is asking residents to share their views by May 31—officials will gather input from public meetings, surveys, and outreach to guide park improvements before presenting the plan to city council. WVLT 8
- ➤ Knoxville City Council approved a redevelopment plan on May 27 to use tax money from the Magnolia corridor and Burlington to fund key infrastructure projects in long-neglected areas. The plan covers East Magnolia Avenue, parts of the Burlington neighborhood, and land near Chilhowee Park and the Knoxville Zoo — with projects including streetscape upgrades, sidewalks, and a new fire station set to begin this summer.
