- ➤ A Knoxville woman was arrested after a Tuesday crash on Middlebrook Pike, when she allegedly kicked out the window of a police car during transport to Knox County Jail—she faces charges including DUI, felony escape, evading arrest and vandalism with a court appearance set for June 10. 6 News

- ➤ A Knoxville teacher at the School of Hard Knox is showing students practical business skills—demonstrating that starting a business is possible. 10 News
- ➤ Connor Solsbee, a former UT mascot and cancer survivor who beat cancer at 16, graduated from the University of Tennessee with a biomedical engineering degree—he will work as a project engineer in Wisconsin next. 10 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs demanded that the county commission transfer control of the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center to the sheriff’s office after safety concerns emerged—he said firings of key staff and medication errors had raised serious alarms. - ➤ Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs said he had no confidence in the juvenile detention center’s leadership after its director fired two employees — including the facility’s only nurse, which left the center without required medical staff.
