- ➤ HUD changed the rules for FHA-insured loans on May 25—only U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents qualify, leaving many Tennessee homebuyers without this option. Loan officer Lane Gonzalez said buyers can still try for conventional loans but must meet higher credit score requirements. 10 News

- ➤ Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs asked Gov. Bill Lee to have the state take over the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center after two employees allegedly faced retaliation for reporting issues—he also plans to urge the Knox County Commission to pass an ordinance shifting management to the county sheriff’s office until new leadership is in place. 10 News
- ➤ Liberty Place in West Knoxville, a 32-unit veterans housing project with on-site VA support and solar panels, was honored in Washington, D.C. when KCDC received the Outstanding Partnership Award from the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. KCDC—its first project dedicated to veterans—worked with more than 25 local partners and government agencies to advance the $15 million development. 6 News
