- ➤ Knox County detectives are investigating a 'ghost tap' credit card fraud scheme and have apprehended more than 10 suspects who used stolen card details loaded in third-party digital wallet apps to purchase and resell gift cards — the suspects come from California, New York and Texas. WVLT 8

- ➤ Tennessee led the nation in FAFSA completion with a record 75.7% among Tennessee Promise applicants, as reported by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission for the 2024-2025 academic year. The commission also named 158 high schools as FAFSA Champions—recognizing their efforts to help students complete the aid forms. WVLT 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 260 troops from the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment left Tennessee last Friday and are finishing training at Fort Cavasos, Texas—preparing for a nearly year-long deployment to the Middle East. They will soon fly to Kuwait to replace Task Force One and support Operation Spartan Shield. WVLT 8
