  • The new Hardin Valley Event Center, a 21,000 square foot space converted from a sports facility, opened on Thursday with a busy farmers market that drew over 1,000 join requests and local vendors using the space for concerts and fundraisers. Co-owners Dale Aikins and Dave Carter plan to develop Beaver Creek into a full outdoor attraction — with a kayaking route and a manmade lagoon — to make the center a lasting community hub.  10 News
  • Larry Hearn lost his upper dentures when a tornado rolled his family's camper near Sweetwater on May 30 — his local dentist, Dr. Richard Boehm, paid for a new set including matching lower dentures so Hearn could attend his granddaughter’s wedding. Hearn said he felt grateful for the kindness shown by his community.  10 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Jair Martin pleaded guilty to killing two young women in a home on Woodlawn Pike in 2023—he admitted to the double homicide.  10 News
  • A former Knoxville police officer, Dan Roark, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty in 2024 to federal child pornography charges (he must register as a sex offender and follow special conditions during supervised release).  6 News

  • At Ijams Nature Center, Navitat Knoxville was named No 5 among the best aerial adventure parks in the country by USA TODAY 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards, offering six trails with varying challenges plus seven zip lines for thrill-seekers.
