CRIME NEWS

  • Four individuals are facing charges after police executed search warrants on Wednesday at homes on Cedar Avenue and Bishop Street and seized over 180 grams of cocaine, over 90 grams of fentanyl, about one pound of marijuana, 340 grams of an unidentified powder — and four firearms.  WVLT 8
  • Law enforcement warns Knoxville residents that fake texts claiming to be from the Tennessee DMV and threatening penalties—set to begin June 8—are circulating statewide and advises recipients not to click links or share personal details.  WVLT 8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Blount County law enforcement said they are calling in the TBI to help investigate teacher misconduct at Blount County Schools after leaked details sparked coverup conspiracy theories. Officials noted that previous botched probes and concerns over a special education teacher's alleged behavior have led them to use extra resources to restore public confidence—authorities say the investigation is ongoing.  WVLT 8
