- ➤ A judge set a bond of $75,000 for Eleasah Williams after her minivan crashed into Shannondale Assisted Living Facility—where 96-year-old Walter Humphrey died—and she is set to appear in court on July 24. 6 News
- ➤ Knoxville Police are searching for Javonta Miles, a 30-year-old man accused of aggravated domestic assault who threatened a woman at gunpoint in Montgomery Village Community on June 13—anyone who sees him is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers. 6 News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Magnavox Odyssey, built in East Tennessee in 1972, started the video game revolution with a simple design and parts made in Jefferson City and Morristown. Its legacy was marked when the Odyssey² was featured at the Knoxville World's Fair in 1982 (a nod to the region's early role in gaming). 10 News
- ➤ Crews have begun work at the historic Tennessee Theatre — they are removing a nearly 97-year-old wall to join it with the nearby 612 Building — as part of a multimillion-dollar expansion project. The nonprofit effort will add new bathrooms, a balcony bar, and community spaces and is set to finish by early 2026 while still raising funds to meet a $19 million goal. 6 News

- ➤ Knox County Schools made major changes at West High School after an investigation found issues that needed to be fixed—officials say the review was key to planning the new measures. WVLT 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Knoxville government officials released renderings of the planned Burlington Fire Station and said ground will break later this year in Burlington with work finishing by the end of 2026. The $8.6 million station will replace an 88-year-old building and feature seven firefighters and two truck bays — the Public Building Authority is managing the project with Johnson and Galyon Construction overseeing work — officials said. 6 News

- ➤ UTMC received $1.25 million from the Pat Summitt Foundation for a five-year grant to expand services and fund more Alzheimer’s research at its Pat Summitt Clinic. The clinic, which serves over 5,600 patients each year, will use the funds to enhance patient care and research — keeping Pat Summitt's legacy alive. 10 News
