CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Zoe Lynn Knight — indicted for First Degree Murder — was arrested Friday in North Carolina in connection with the homicide of Lisa Lynn Goode that occurred on December 7 at a Newport home on 1403 Arlis Road and is held on a $1 million bond pending extradition to Cocke County Detention Center. - ➤ TWRA has halted the proposed 28% increase in hunting and fishing license fees this year — following assurances of alternative funding from committee members — while current fees remain unchanged and a rule to raise boat registration prices will take effect July 1. 10 News
- ➤ TWRA has withdrawn its plan to raise most hunting and fishing license fees after lawmakers pledged to look for alternative funding—saving hunters from a 28% increase to $42 that would have raised $12 million, while current rates remain unchanged. A separate rule to raise boat registration fees by 22% will go into effect July 1. WVLT 8
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Families who lost loved ones to overdose have installed a second billboard in Knoxville to warn that fentanyl kills—this effort is part of a community war on fentanyl aimed at preventing further tragedy. The parents say the billboard builds on a previous installation from March to spark necessary conversations about the drug’s impact. WVLT 8
