- ➤ A Florida man named Giovannie Lazaro Torres was arrested in Tampa and will be extradited within 30 days to face 32 felony charges including child sex abuse of three juveniles in Blount County—authorities said he used social media to coerce victims and mailed them explicit materials—and state agencies in Tennessee and Florida have coordinated his arrest. 6 News
- ➤ Investigators arrested 30-year-old Giovannie Lazaro Torres, a Florida man, in Blount County for a 32-count felony indictment involving the sexual abuse of three minors and linked him to additional victims in other states—law enforcement took him into custody on a governor’s warrant and he will be extradited to face charges. - ➤ Knox County commissioners approved an 18-month plan to transfer control of the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center to the sheriff’s office, which will take over the facility from Jan. 1 to June 30—a decision made after whistleblower reports prompted calls for reform.
