ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday at around 5:00 p.m., a car caught fire on 640 at Western Avenue — KFD confirmed that all passengers escaped safely and no injuries were reported as lanes reopened. WVLT 8

- ➤ Adrian McMillian and his crew work nonstop to keep nearly 400 Bird Scooters ready for riders in Knoxville—swapping batteries and lining up scooters on sidewalks—to help curb car use. They work 24/7 to keep chargers and scooters in order for riders needing a quick ride. 10 News

- ➤ Deputy Dalton Swanger is awake and off the ventilator after being injured on June 22 when a 44-year-old suspect struck him with a rock or brick—he can speak and move his limbs but faces a long road to recovery while the suspect faces charges including attempted second-degree murder. WVLT 8
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Townsend's Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center will host a free patriotic concert on July 4th as a 35-piece All-American Brass Band performs favorite marches and tunes, with guests allowed to start arriving at 6:30 p.m. and the first 300 receiving complementary flags + the show ending before local fireworks begin. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TVA imploded the smoke stacks at the retired Bull Run Fossil Plant in Claxton Saturday, and TDOT closed State Route 170 near the site for about 30 minutes at 6 a.m. and again at noon as safety measures — TVA plans to repurpose the site for a fusion power plant prototype called Infinity One and build a synchronous condenser to support grid stability. 6 News
- ➤ TVA imploded the 500-foot and 800-foot smokestacks at 6 a.m. Saturday in the retired Bull Run Fossil plant in Anderson County — a landmark since the 1960s — after hazards were removed and water and curtains controlled dust. TVA imploded a building at noon to clear the site for future energy projects with ORNL and Type One Energy and to boost local investment. 10 News
