- ➤ Knoxville police continue to search for 28-year-old Wayne Parham, who is accused of hitting and then shooting 48-year-old Michael Velasquez on July 6 along the 800 block of Howard Baker Jr. Avenue—while 35-year-old Kristin Drollinger faces an accessory-after-the-fact charge for helping him flee. 10 News
- ➤ Michael Lashawn Merrick, 50, was convicted for fatally shooting his girlfriend Nicole Stewart 13 times at their Knoxville apartment on April 25th, 2024 — he is set to serve 25 years without parole after investigators tracked him to Kentucky when he fled the scene. 6 News

- ➤ Parents in Knoxville are set to spend about $741 on school supplies this year, which is $200 more than last year's average (per a NerdWallet study). - ➤ The Tennessee Department of Transportation is closing I-275 from Bernard Avenue to Elm Street this weekend to replace a bridge that will reopen Monday at 6 a.m.—crews will use accelerated construction methods to remove the old bridge and build a new one. 6 News
- ➤ The Knox County Election Commission released data from Knoxville's primary elections since 2001 (votes ranged from 1,798 to 10,043) showing a steady rise in voter turnout despite the exclusion of the 5th council district; the city now has (97,382 registered voters) and its 2025 primary election will be held on August 26. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Summit Medical announced Friday that BlueCross BlueShield coverage may shift when the non-renewal takes effect on Jan 1 — for now, patients can still visit their Summit providers but future appointments may be billed as out-of-network. WVLT 8
- ➤ Summit Medical Group said it will not renew its contract with BlueCross BlueShield, meaning its providers will be out-of-network for commercial and Medicare Advantage plans starting January 1 while patients can still receive care at Summit through the end of this year—Summit said it is working to secure a fair new agreement. 6 News

- ➤ University of Tennessee Athletics, Vol Network and Gray Media announced a major pact that named WVLT, WSMV and WMC as the official TV stations for the Volunteers.
