- ➤ Loring Taylor has been donating monthly to cover the cost of four new pairs of shoes for Knox County students through the annual Shoes for School event hosted by the Knoxville Area Urban League—her donations so far have provided footwear for over 50 children and the event will be held on August 2 at Covenant Health Park. 10 News
- ➤ Remote Area Medical is hosting its first-ever fundraising telethon on July 27 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.—local viewers can watch the event live. WVLT 8
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A truck belonging to missing Knoxville man Keith Robert Conley, 65, was found crashed near Highway 129 by Topside Road on July 21—authorities will perform an autopsy to identify the body as they investigate the crash, and Conley went missing on July 11 when a Silver Alert was issued due to his medical conditions. - ➤ Knox County and Knoxville-Knox County Planning will update county development regulations to meet the goals of the Advance Knox plan by drafting a new Unified Development Ordinance. A consultant team led by Orion Planning will review current guidelines starting in September and hold public events in the fall before the adoption process begins in July 2026 — officials say the move will modernize zoning and streamline permitting. 6 News
- ➤ The Knoxville City Council approved $18.9M to fix Pleasant Ridge Road by adding new turn lanes and sidewalks on a 1.3-mile stretch, with construction set to begin this fall and finish by the end of 2027. The council also set aside nearly $5M in federal funds to help about 300 low-income residents with home repairs and lead hazard removal — most of the money will go to a program that cleans up lead in homes with young children. 6 News

- ➤ Remote Area Medical will host its first telethon 'Living the Giving' on July 27 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. to mark its 40th anniversary and raise funds with a dollar-for-dollar match offered by the Foxman Foundation—viewers will be able to watch the live broadcast on RAM’s website and multiple streaming platforms.
