ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Knoxville Fire Department crews stopped a box truck fire at the Mapco Gas Station at 4409 Western Avenue on Sunday morning — their quick efforts prevented the blaze from growing worse. 6 News
- ➤ Officials said the 51-year-old Georgia man, Randall Bradley, jumped from a boat at Chickamauga Reservoir at 1:15 p.m. today to retrieve a piece from the swim platform and drowned without a lifejacket—his body was recovered from 15-18 feet of water at 8:30 p.m. after an extensive search. WVLT 8

- ➤ A 2.3 magnitude earthquake struck 6.8 miles from Mascot around 12:16 a.m. Sunday at a depth of about 1.5 miles — USGS reported the tremor occurred without causing known damage. 6 News
- ➤ USGS reported a 2.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 12:16 a.m. on Sunday morning near the Kodak area (at the Knox, Sevier and Jefferson County lines) with residents in Strawberry Plains, Kodak and New Market feeling the minor shake; no damage was reported. This event happened while most were sleeping in Sevier County. WVLT 8

- ➤ Senator Marsha Blackburn said she has proof that three of Tennessee’s largest universities are not following a president’s order to end DEI policies and may lose federal funding if they do not comply—leaked videos show staff discussing ways to hide or rename the policies. 6 News
- ➤ TDOT said road work on Chapman Highway is causing lane closures on northbound between Highland View Drive and Hendron Chapel Road—starting Sunday at 6 p.m. and continuing nightly until 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug 1. Drivers should expect delays—use extra caution near workers. WVLT 8
