- ➤ Zoo Knoxville announced that Kumi, a 27-year-old Western lowland gorilla, is pregnant and expected to give birth in late November or early December — the zoo’s first baby gorilla since 2016 — after being paired with silverback Bantu and monitored with biweekly ultrasounds. 6 News

- ➤ Over the weekend, the New Market Fire Department saved a woman in a wheelchair from her burning home after she initially refused to leave, with fire chief Frank Solomon convincing her to evacuate when flames spread from an exhaust fan — police officer Brandon Bullins helped, and she is now staying with a family member. 6 News

- ➤ Knox County parents Jason Hoffer, 27, and Amber Hoffer, 28, were taken into custody Tuesday after deputies responded to a call about unattended children and found seven children living in deplorable conditions on Clear Springs Road—Jason faces charges of child endangerment and aggravated child abuse while Amber faces two counts of child endangerment and the Department of Children's Services removed the children. 10 News
- ➤ The Knoxville Police arrested a 17-year-old suspect on charges of attempted first-degree murder and reckless endangerment after a shooting Tuesday evening at an apartment on 1944 Minnesota Avenue in Lonsdale Homes that injured two juveniles—one is in critical condition and the other is stable at UT Medical Center.
