- ➤ Knox County Schools' new Chief of Security, Carlo Granillo, is testing new software that upgrades 6,500 security cameras to detect weapons and threats with artificial intelligence as the district prepares for the new school year+ school leaders urge everyone to use the KCS Text-A-Tip app to report safety or mental health concerns. - ➤ Vanderbilt University and UT Knoxville hired outside firms to review their DEI programs after leaked videos showed staff saying the programs did not change even though state and federal laws banned them. Lawmakers warned that if the schools continue these practices they may face legal trouble and lose federal funding. 6 News

- ➤ The Knoxville City Council approved a $2M project Tuesday to fix flooding on North Cherry Street by replacing a rusted stormwater pipe with a concrete box—local funds of $400,000 and federal support will help pay for the work, which is expected to be completed in about a year. 6 News

- ➤ Knoxville’s Rejoice Fertility Clinic delivered a baby boy from the longest-frozen embryo, which had been stored for 31 years, two months and 20 days—setting a world record. The embryo was donated through an adoption agency and chosen by the Pierce family for specialized care. 10 News
