ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A hiker injured on the Den Ridge Trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park was rescued by Tennessee National Guard when a Black Hawk helicopter left McGhee Tyson air base shortly after 7 p.m. on August 19 — the crew provided first aid and flew him to University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.  Knoxville News Sentinel
  • Tuesday evening the Tennessee Army National Guard flight crew rescued an injured hiker from a remote area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park at Snake Den Ridge Trailhead and flew him to UT Medical Center in Knoxville after departing from McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base around 7 p.m.  6 News
  • The Tennessee National Guard rescued an injured hiker from Snake Den Ridge Trail in a remote part of Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Tuesday evening—flying him by helicopter to Knoxville's University of Tennessee Medical Center in under 90 minutes.  WVLT 8

  • A 46-year-old Knoxville man, Kenyan Roshad Warren, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he killed one pedestrian and injured another on North Broadway in 2022—witnesses said he kicked one victim and he had a blood alcohol level well over the legal limit that day.  10 News
  • A Knoxville man, Kenyan Warren, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with no parole for killing Stephanie Llewellyn and injuring another pedestrian in a 2022 DUI crash on North Broadway — he was convicted of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and reckless aggravated assault.  6 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fire departments across East Tennessee now handle more medical emergencies than fires, with about 75% of calls in Knoxville being for strokes, car accidents, or overdoses. Firefighters are receiving higher-level training to improve patient care quickly + crews in Anderson County report similar trends.  10 News
  • On Wednesday afternoon, a Knoxville teen who recently received a liver transplant was surprised with a trip to Universal Studios — Walt Disney World when Make-A-Wish East Tennessee partnered with Axle Logistics; 13-year-old Tony Stefko, a fan of Star Wars and Marvel Comics, will join his family on the trip as he continues to recover.  6 News
  • KARM partnered with Summit Medical & will offer free healthcare services on North Broadway to residents in need near downtown Knoxville. The new partnership aims to expand access to care and improve local health outcomes.  10 News
