- ➤ Gibbs Youth Sports is hosting a youth baseball tournament on Sept. 13 and 14 at Gibbs Ruritarian Park to raise funds for Jensen Vaught’s cancer treatment—about 25 teams have signed up and team fees of $50 per team with a $10 door charge for parents will help cover his medical bills as he looks forward to returning to baseball. - ➤ Human remains found in Knoxville in 2020 were identified as Gerald J. Forsman by the Knox County Regional Forensic Center using DNA from Othram — the testing was part of a cold case initiative funded by Congressman Tim Burchett’s 2024 community project. WVLT 8

- ➤ Knox County Engineering and Public Works now uses a web-based software program to update 97 school zone speed limit flashing signs for 43 schools—ensuring the lights flash only when students are present and on schedule. The updates address new construction near Ball Camp Elementary and include plans to install speeding cameras in school zones. 10 News
- ➤ On Monday afternoon, Aug 27, the Knox County Commission approved a $13.1 million contract for additions and renovations to Halls Middle School on Emory Road. - ➤ Rep. Shaundelle Brooks of Nashville filed a Tennessee bill that would make it a felony to impersonate a police officer or federal agent during a violent crime — the measure adds a $5,000 penalty and comes after violent killings in Minnesota inspired the legislation. 6 News
