GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers on Carroll Hollow Road near Highway 25W have faced dangerous conditions for years as large trucks using GPS misroutes block intersections and cause crashes—county commissioners Tim Isbel and Shain Vowell now plan to work with GPS companies and add more signage pending county commission approval.  10 News
  • Knox County’s Operation Hero’s Hill project will build tiny homes, a computer lab, and a laundry facility for 20 homeless veterans by involving students from Knox County Schools’ Career and Technical Education programs, mentored by construction experts. Mayor Glenn Jacobs said the project aims to reduce veteran homelessness—support has been reported from across the country while funding remains a challenge.  10 News

  • A Knoxville mother said her 3-month-old daughter with Trisomy 18 is happy and thriving, defying the usual fatal course of this genetic disorder (which is typically deadly). Her daughter's progress is inspiring other mothers to support fellow parents facing similar challenges.  10 News

  • Today, Tennessee opens its 2025 football season against Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta with both teams debuting new quarterbacks (Joey Aguilar for Tennessee and Steve Angeli for Syracuse).
