  • Zoo Knoxville will begin a new ostrich feeding encounter for kids on weekends after Sept 1 with non-members paying $6 and members $5; the event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays—tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis.  10 News
  • On Monday, the Knoxville-Oak Ridge Central Labor Council held its annual Labor Day picnic at Melton Lake for union members and families — where leaders honored past labor victories and stressed that the fight continues to keep TVA public and secure better working conditions amid federal contract challenges.  6 News

  • An Oak Ridge man has been charged with attempted murder and faces hit and run charges after a woman was hospitalized at 1:15 a.m. on Monday, authorities said.  10 News
  • Knoxville police investigated a shooting on the 2800 block of East Magnolia Avenue when a woman walking in an alley behind 2813 E. Magnolia Avenue was shot and suffered minor injuries+ the investigation continues as officials work to determine how the incident happened.  6 News

  • The daughter of Deputy Jason Scott said she will join law enforcement just like her dad, who was shot nearly 20 years ago in Loudon County—11 days before she was born.  10 News
  • The Knoxville City Council will meet today to consider selling 13 acres of Chilhowee Park to Emerald Youth Foundation—this proposal follows a long debate on the park's future. Local officials are set to discuss the decision, which may change public use of the area.  10 News
  • Gov. Bill Lee said his administration preserved 14 state parks and will buy more land to build new parks. He said that protecting natural spots such as the Duck River—North America's most full of life river—is key for Tennessee's future.  6 News
