- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee launched Hunger Action Month to raise awareness of hunger across its 18-county service area amid rising living costs. The campaign asks neighbors to host food drives, volunteer, or share information and wear orange today during Hunger Action Day—nearly 214,000 people face food insecurity in the region. WVLT 8
- ➤ The Knoxville Fire Department will host its annual Evening on Market Square event on Friday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.—attendees can tour a firetruck, roast marshmallows and receive fire prevention tips from firefighters. WVLT 8

- ➤ The TBI is investigating a death in custody at Union County Jail reported on Saturday—its second investigation in two weeks. 10 News

- ➤ On Saturday, Dollywood earned three Golden Ticket Awards for Best Family Coaster, Best Kid’s Area, and Best Guest Experience—honoring votes from top amusement park fans. The park will celebrate its 40th season with a Harvest Festival from Sept. 12 to Oct. 27. WVLT 8

- ➤ On Thursday, Sept. 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the American Job Center on Middlebrook Pike will host a hiring event with over 20 employers, and job seekers should bring a resume and dress professionally—attendees will also be able to access local resource centers such as the TDOC Community Resource Center. - ➤ TreisD, a 3D imaging company, announced Monday it partnered with the University of Tennessee to study sinkholes using AI at the UT Research Park at Cherokee Farm (about 30 minutes from its planned facility in Mascot). The project will also include a capstone course for UTK students (focusing on 3D image data and AI) to help communities better predict and prevent sinkhole damage. 6 News

- ➤ Knoxville counselor Kristen Robinson has been named Tennessee Counselor of the Year for her addiction recovery work in East Tennessee—where she has guided children, teens and adults for nearly 20 years.
