- ➤ Knoxville native Kenny Chesney, a Country Music Hall of Fame electee, will launch his upcoming book Heart Life Music at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City on Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.—tickets will be available from Sept. 19 at 10 a.m.—for fans to hear about his journey to stardom. WVLT 8
- ➤ UT is adapting the classic novel Sense and Sensibility for the stage at Clarence Brown Theatre—Director Casey Sams explains how the production is being reimagined for modern audiences. 10 News
- ➤ A new exhibit at UT’s Hodges Library shines a light on Knoxville artist Beauford Delaney by showing items from his personal archive acquired in 2022—letting visitors see how his art moved from early city scenes to abstract pieces. - ➤ State officials say federal changes to SNAP will nearly triple the state’s annual spending on benefits for children and youth from $56.7 million to $165.3 million as Tennessee must pay higher administrative fees and cover up to 15% of overpaid benefits—adding pressure on food banks that help nearly 700,000 residents access groceries. 10 News

- ➤ On Tuesday, Blount County launched its Aviation Academy, officially certifying the program that gives FAA training for Airframe and Powerplant technicians at 1749 Triangle Park Drive in Maryville. The academy will add more aviation certifications through its partnership with Pellissippi State Community College to meet the growing need for skilled workers. WVLT 8

- ➤ Newfound Gap Road reopened ahead of schedule after storm damage weakened a section linking Tennessee and North Carolina—drivers said the ride is smooth but delays may occur with continued work on the North Carolina side. 6 News
- ➤ City councilmembers met Tuesday evening at the City-County Building and approved a vote to apply for a federal grant to assess the Gay St. Bridge, which is under repair and will reopen for walkers and cyclists by the end of the year. They also approved a Trail Use Agreement—paving the way for the nearly four-mile SoKno Rail Trail and Art Walk project on South Knoxville. 10 News

- ➤ A new mixed-use development called Lone Tree Pass will boost downtown as it connects Gay Street with the Old City—featuring more than 50 condominiums, retail space, and four workforce housing units.
