- ➤ Data from the Tennessee Dept. of Education shows that most Education Freedom Scholarships were given to students in urban areas, with Knoxville receiving 2,557 vouchers and strong numbers in Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga — more vouchers went to high-income suburbs like Franklin, Brentwood and Belle Meade than to lower-income parts. Gov. Bill Lee said nearly 42,000 applications were received and he will ask lawmakers to add more funds for future scholarships. 6 News
