- ➤ A stovetop fire forced residents out of Sutters Mill Apartments in West Knoxville Sunday evening when a man left food frying unattended—firefighters said the fire, smoke and water damage left the apartment and several other units uninhabitable. 10 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Knox County deputies responded to a shooting call at the 7800 block of Stanley Road at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday when a suspect hit Deputy Dalton Swanger with a large rock or brick, leaving him critically injured — the suspect was taken into custody shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday. WVLT 8

- ➤ A new Tennessee law will let foster care youth receive state support until age 23 to help them move from custody to independence.
